Four Tips for Making LED Signs More Visible From Your Business Windows

Posted on

LED lights are a great way to advertise your business, and you can hang them on your storefront, place them on top of your roof or put them in your windows. If you are opting for the last option, there are several things you can do to make your LED lights more visible through your windows. Take a look at these ideas:

1. Plan the letter size strategically.

If you want your signs to be visible, you need to keep that in mind when you buy them. As a general rule of thumb, your sign letters need to be at least 7.62 centimeters tall to be easily read from about 9 meters away and legible from 30 meters away.

Figure out where your prospective clients are going to be standing, driving or walking past your building. Then, measure the distance between that point and your window and calculate about 2.5 centimeters of height per letter for every 3 meters.

2. Make a backdrop behind your LED sign.

If you have an LED sign in your business's window and the rest of your store or office is visible behind the sign, that can make the sign harder to read. It can simply get lost among all the other sights and objects in your storefront. To prevent that, consider hanging a backdrop behind the sign, between it and the objects in your shop.

Black creates a compelling contrast with most colours of LED lights, but any colour of fabric backdrop can work.

3. Schedule regular window cleanings.

In addition to choosing your LED sign carefully and hanging a backdrop if necessary, you also want to ensure your windows are clean. Ideally, you should schedule regular window cleanings. This prevents bird droppings, fingerprints from passersby, and other streaks and smudges from blocking your sign.

4. Consider transparent LED signage.

In lieu of hanging an LED sign in your business's window, consider turning the window itself into an LED sign. There is now transparent LED signage that is essentially an LED sign built into a piece of glass. If the sign is on, you can have any message you like showing up on the glass, and if it is off, it simply looks like glass. You can place the transparent signage in your window, or talk with a sign expert about replacing your existing glass with this type of signage.
